#007 Chimera

Hey, Sorry for the lack of updates. I don't really have an excuse other than laziness, so lets start fresh! Check out the archives! You don't need to look at much, there's barely 10 total. Comments and feedback are the best way to keep me putting these up, so bring the noise!

#006 Intellect Devourer

This guy. Now this is one I've never really spent time thinking about. As a matter of fact, I've never really taken a good look at the stats either. But one thing is for certain, this little guy is a memorable image. How the hell are you going to forget seeing a picture of a brain with it's own set of little rodent legs? I sure as hell never will.

As I said, I've never really taken a good look at it's stats. But as I'm typing this on my iPad, I've got the stats up on my computer from D20PFSRD.com, so I'll make some comments of my impressions. (speaking of which, that site is an invaluable resource if your playing/running a Pathfinder RPG. I used to contribute here and there early on, but have lacked the time and energy to keep up with helping, but I'll sure as hell mention it to whoever might be able to use it.)

Ok here goes the stat thoughts. Wow, a bit tougher to hit to death with pure violence than I thought it would be. Good DR and pretty resistant to a few things. SNEAK ATTACK?? With four claws, that could put the hurt on the character that didn't happen to notice the walking brain in the room. Nice spell like ability list too.

I could definitely see this as being a tough thing to deal with for a party that wasn't expecting it. And would just be a sad fight if for whatever reason they started with the upper hand. I also makes me think about some cool villain concepts, like having a party have to deal with it early on as a reoccurring antagonist, maybe it's using it's stolen bodies to commit crimes, then dumping them off for new ones every time. Then by the time the heroes get around to catching on, they'd be tough enough to take it on... I like it.

Alright, folks. It was a good one, I hope, and I'll try to get another one out before too long. It's tougher than I thought to get used to updating a blog somewhat regularly. Any tips?

Next post on the horizon

Don't worry, folks who may or may not read this! I have a new one ready and waiting for me to write it up. I should get around to getting the whole email-to-post thing to make this whole process easier...

Guest Entry #001 - The Mimic

Ok so for a lot of people, this week was the first week of school. And if you don't attend a school, you probably had to deal with the increase in traffic, or other sort of side effect from people learning things.

Work has been crazy this week, and I figured I would put up a Guest Drawing that my GF, Melanie, wanted to do. If the whole 'guest post' thing catches on, I'll try to keep it spaced out so that I can use them as a little filler for when I can't get one of mine ready.

Again, if you would like to send me a guest entry, feel free to! Leave a comment with how you would like to send it, or hit the Tweet-verse with @revenganceful, and I'll figure it out!

See y'all next time!

I'll try to get her to make some comments about her thoughts on the Mimic, and spare mine for if I ever do one of my own.

#005 Bonus Round: Tiny Triple Threat

Five sounds like a good number to do something different. And so, here's what I'll call a 'Bonus Round' I think of something better. So here's the theme, the Tiny Triple Threat!

In order of appearance, we have the Goblin. I like Paizo's constant design of these guys. They definitely pull off that 'kind of harmless, but criminally insane' feeling that could make for some fun scenarios.

Next up, the Kobold. I was having trouble getting the snout to look right drawing from memory, so I opened up my Bestiary and used that for reference. Unfortunately, it's almost an exact copy of the pose too. (except COMPLETELY lacking in drawing skills) I've heard arguments that Kobolds are better looking Canine-esque, but I've enjoyed the imagery of them being Draconian a lot better.

And finally, as I called it, the 'Tribal Spriggan'. They were never called that from what I can tell, and trying to avoid spoilers, I wont mention where. But just the thought of a crazy pygmy tribe of Spriggans running around being all 'evil-gnome' all the time worries me for the safety of unprepared adventurers.

Let me know what you think of the Bonus Round idea. I'm still thinking of different ways to mix the pace up a bit. Sometime soon, I'll be putting up a Guest piece, so maybe if I can get enough of them, I'll do one a week or something? Feel free to submit them. The only rule is it needs to be on a whiteboard.(but hell, old school chalk would work too.)

Also, in case you wanted them, here are the individual snaps of each of our Tiny Trio.

#004 Gelatinous Cube

For my Fourth entry! I'm going with another classic, The Gelatinous Cube! (as chosen by my Girlfriend, Mel) Also in SUPER-SPECIAL COLOR.

This is another one of those monsters that are clearly better used by wizards in their crazy-ass dungeons to keep as cheap guards and such. But, unlike the last wizard-made monster I posted, The Owlbear, it's NOWHERE near as stupid sounding or acting. In fact, under the right circumstances, this thing can be outright troublesome. That is, unless your dealing with players that have dealt with one before.

I'll need to look up the exact book, but Paizo tossed in some variants on this guy. My favorite might have been the 'Gelatinous Sphere' made by crazier wizards more or less treating like their playdough guards.

Hope to see you next time. I have a cool idea for the next entry, but I'm not 100% certain it will work out how I think it will. Only one way to find out!

#003 Invisible Stalker

Third entry: The Invisible Stalker

I think I've been on the receiving end of one of these years ago, but the thing that always stuck with me was the picture in the D&D 3.5 Monster Manual. It had a guy walking around some ruins, or temple, completely unaware that this Translucent-Misty-Raptor-Looking thing was right about to sneak up on him and ruin his day. That's not to say that the concept of an invisible monster isn't scary. Picturing it now, I would have to find the best way to roleplay my character defecating his armor as his friends get gored by nothing.

If anyone's reading this, please leave some comments so I know I should keep doing this. I don't have a planned schedule to post, so it may be random between entries. I mostly get the inspiration at random when I walk by my front door. (where the aptly named Whiteboard is located)
